Longview Public Schools help students launch successfully into college and career. We’d like to introduce a number of our (fairly recent) graduates and highlight their accomplishments and career trajectories. Here is a notable Rising Star:

  • Northlake Elementary
  • Monticello Middle School
  • RA Long Class of 2015
  • Bachelor’s in Economics – Harvard Class of 2019
  • Associate Product Marketing Manager at Google – September 2019

“This is my dream job. This is the job I wanted forever,” said Sarah Luedke of her new position, right out of college, at Google. She landed it the same way she’s achieved so many other things: by setting goals and never ceasing to work toward them.

“I’ve always been very goal-driven, from an early age. I have memories of spending hours on my own training in the gym so I could get good enough for a scholarship.” Luedke went on to play basketball for Harvard after being a four-year starter at RA Long and breaking eight records in points, blocks and rebounds.

When asked about people who have motivated or inspired her, she said, “My parents and grandparents have all been hard workers. Seeing their dedication has been influential.” She also mentioned Susan Andrew (now Susan Greenberg), one of her teachers at Northlake Elementary. “She gave me a passion for learning. And, at a young age, gave me the feeling that I could do things.”

Luedke recollects, “I was never the smartest one in the room in Harvard, but I always felt just as capable as anyone else. I always had something to contribute.”

Her advice for LPS students, “Don’t sell yourself short. You have something to offer.”
