Dear Olympic families,
The purpose of this letter is to inform you about an incident that took place in our neighborhood this morning.
A female student, who attends Olympic, was followed by a gold colored 90’s model truck while walking to school. Her quick action, coupled with the actions of two female adults who intervened, led to a positive outcome. One of the adults notified the girl’s mom, while the other called 911. This is an amazing example of how “See something, say something” can make an enormous difference in keeping our children safe. We cannot thank these parents enough for their quick action.
The student came to school and supports were put in place for her and others who may have witnessed the incident. I am pleased to report this ended up being a typical day at school for all. We are working closely with the Longview Police Department on the issue.
This incident sheds light on the importance of students coming to and going home from school in pairs or groups for their safety.
