Graduation is coming soon and Longview Public Schools would like to recognize graduating seniors who currently hold a cumulative 4.0 GPA. As a part of this recognition, we asked our cumulative 4.0 graduates the following questions.

What is a tip or habit that has helped you achieve a 4.0 GPA?

Learning to care about and enjoy some of the subjects in school. I find that particularly motivating when you're in a class you don't want to be in, the prospect of the next one being fun makes it a lot easier to do good work.

What advice would you give underclassmen about high school?

Help as many people as possible in as many ways as you can. Beyond that, focus on your happiness and comfort in a high school environment. Also, get your community service hours done early.

What are some of your best memories from high school?

Friends. Eating with friends in the dugout next to the softball field during lunch, talking all the time in and outside of class, seeing them all at senior sunrise, and of course making music with them.

What teacher had the most impact on you and how will you remember them?

Dr. Lanette Shepherd, the orchestra instructor, had the biggest impact on me. I have been learning from her for almost 7 years and throughout that, she has been an overwhelmingly positive person and helpful mentor to me. I will remember her as one of the kindest and most talented people I have ever met.

What are your plans after high school?

I will be studying physics at the University of Washington in Seattle. I hope to have a career in scientific research. I am also gonna try to keep playing music as much as possible.

Longview Public Schools is proud of every one of its students! We hope their futures are full of amazing opportunities!
