On Saturday, February 28th, R. A. Long Choir Students competed at our regional vocal solo/ensemble contest held at Monticello Middle School. There are 12 categories that students can enter, ranging from 6 solo categories by voice type: soprano, alto, tenor, etc., and 6 ensemble categories distinguished by size and voicings. R. A. Long Choirs placed in all 12 categories and won 9 of them. That means our singers will represent R. A. Long in 9 events at the state level in Ellensburg at the end of April. Here is a list of all the winners and Placers.

  • Juice Quiroz - Winner - Bass
  • Chor Diem Treble - Winner - Large Treble
  • Katelyn Earle, Hazel Sharp Duet - 2nd Alternate -Small Treble
  • Axidental Harmony - 2nd Alternate -Large Mixed
  • Luke Askeland, Katelyn Earle, Hazel Sharp, Jack Sullivan Quartet - Winner - Small Mixed
  • Aaliyah Cooper, Eve Huhta, Raymond Crawford Trio - First Alternate - Small Mixed
  • Chor Diem TB Ensemble - Winner - Large Tenor/Bass
  • Ryan Boldt, Jack Sullivan, Luke Askeland, and Juice Quiroz- Winner - Small Tenor/Bass

As always, our Amazing Accompanist Riki Davis played for every one of these entries. The hours of practice and rehearsal she puts into this event are immense. She is a ROCK STAR!

Lastly, there were MANY choir students and parent volunteers who made this event possible. This was our second year of hosting, and it went smoothly because the kids and parents really showed up and made it happen.
