Longview Schools Celebrates Black History Month by Honoring Edmund Gordon

Dr. Edmund Gordon

It is the second week of Black History Month, and for this event we would like to take a moment to honor Dr. Edmund Gordon! Dr. Gordon is a professor of psychology, education writer, and founder of the Federal Head Start program as well as the Institute for Urban Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College.

As many of you know, the Federal Head Start program plays an important role in providing early education to and resources to students and families within the Longview community. It is thanks to Dr. Gordon that we have this valuable program. To learn more about Dr. Gordon, then take a moment to read his 2011 interview on the American Psychological Association's website.
