Dear Parents and Families,
At the school board meeting on Monday, September 28, the board received updated Cowlitz County COVID infection rate statistics and discussed starting dates for hybrid learning.
The board voted to start hybrid in person learning with Pre-kindergarten through second grade students on October 19, third through fifth grade kids will start hybrid in person learning on October 26 and secondary schools will start on November 9. These starting dates are subject to the COVID infection rate being in the moderate category.
This schedule gives the district three more weeks to continue evaluating COVID infection rate trends prior to serving kids in person. It will help us to assure the safety of our students and staff once we begin returning to school.
Longview Public Schools will hold a community information meeting on Tuesday, September 29 at 5pm. The meeting will include a brief presentation from Superintendent Zorn about the current health conditions in Cowlitz County, a recap of district safety preparedness efforts and a review of the hybrid learning model.
