At their June 27, 2022, regular meeting the Board of Directors:

  • Approved the consent agenda which contained the June 13, 2022, regular and special meeting minutes, personnel report, contracts and personal service agreements, Resolution 796 cancelling outstanding warrants and the warrants for June 27, 2022.
  • Heard a report from the superintendent that the Memorial stadium track and field renovation project that is made possible by the recent Capital Projects and Technology Levy passage. The district formed a committee and has interviewed vendors to begin work on the project with hopes to have the renovations done for the opening of the 2023-24 fall sports season.
  • Heard a report on the district's climate and culture survey given to staff, students and parents. The survey was overwhelmingly positive in the areas of sense of belonging, pride, purpose and resiliency.
  • Heard results from the 2021 Healthy Youth Survey that was provided to student cohorts in grades 6,8,10 and 12. The survey has four main categories: safety and violent behavior, risk and protective factors, health and health related behaviors, alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, and measures student use and perceptions. 
  • Heard a Whole Child report that focused on academic and social emotional learning.
  • Approved the contract award to Pacific Tech Constructions for both the Mark Morris football locker room and girl's locker room remodel projects and the Northlake Elementary sloped roof replacement project. 
  • Approved the Longview Education Association and the Longview Classified Public Employee Association collective bargaining agreements, which were 3 year agreements.
  • Heard an update on the 2022-23 Budget Development process. 
  • Heard a June enrollment report. The district is enrollment is down by 345 students, since pre-pandemic times.
  • Heard a May budget status report, board subcommittee reports.
  • Had a request by Board Director Don Cox to hear a presentation by Brent Freeman from Wahkiakum School District about the lawsuit that district has filed related to capital bonds.
  • The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 11, 2022, at 6:30 p.m.
