At their August 9, 2021, regular meeting, the Board of Directors:

  • Approved the consent agenda, which contained the July 26, 2021 minutes, the personnel report, the 2021-22 Warehouse Paper Bid Award and warrants.
  • Conducted a Public Hearing on the 2021-22 Preliminary Budget and Four Year Budget Plan and took public comment.
  • Approved a lunch price increase of 10 cents for the 2021-22 school year. Lunches this year are free under a COVID-19 emergency waiver provided by the federal government.
  • Discussed the return to school mandates issued by the Governor and Department of Health, A letter sent to all superintendents and school boards in the state by OSPI that urges school districts to comply with the mandates or face suspension of state and federal funding, and the employee and parent survey that was sent out the first week of August. The board received public comment on this matter, with the majority of those commenting expressing opposition to students wearing masks at school for a variety of reasons. 
  • Made a motion to comply with the Governor's orders and Department of Health COVID-19 health and safety requirements. The motion passed 4-1. 

The next regular meeting is scheduled for August 23, 2021, at 6:30 p.m.
