At their January 23, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Directors:

  • Approved the consent agenda which contained the January 9, 2023, regular meeting minutes, the personnel report, the 2023-24 School Calendar and Warrants. 
  • Heard Star Polisher recognition as follows:

    ·   R.A. Long student Luna Giap stated her Star Polisher was Monticello Middle School Teacher Alexander Weiss. "I felt safe and respected in that environment. I felt like it was an engaging learning environment, and I never felt uncomfortable."      Mt. Solo student Brooklynn George stated that Mr. Cervantes is her star polisher because, "Everyday he encourages me to work hard and makes everyday fun and enjoyable even if that day sucked before. He's very helpful with questions and work and he makes my day and life a lot better."

  • Heard a report about the Title I Part A Program which improves basic education programs for students who struggle to meet state standards. 
  • Discussed the 2023-24 Budget Parameters and directed the superintendent to maintain the goal of a 7%-9% total ending fund balance and set the minimum fund balance percentage to 7%, which is up from 6% last year. The parameters adopted in the previous year were agreeable to the board with a couple small changes like emphasizing the need to meet academic intervention needs of students with particular emphasis on remediating for the impacts of the pandemic. 
  • Conducted a first reading on Policy 1310, Policy 3143, and Policy 4210. The board will conduct a second reading of these policies on February 13.
  • Set a workshop for February 13, at 5:00 p.m. to discuss Student Representatives on the board.
  • Heard a budget status report for December and an Enrollment Report for January. The budget is tracking as expected and enrollment is holding steady and is in line with budget. The voter approved bonds have been paid off.
  • The next meeting is scheduled for February 13, 2023, at 6:30 p.m.
