What is Kinder Bridge?
Kinder Bridge is Longview's early learning kindergarten prep program for 4-year-olds. It provides qualified students with a high-quality early learning experience and is designed to provide an equitable start for children who have not previously been able to access early learning experiences because of barriers like cost. This program is for children who are 4 years old as of August 31, 2022.
Why is Kinder Bridge Needed?
Kinder Bridge focuses on gradual transitions to help 4-year-olds prepare for kindergarten in age-appropriate ways.
The program teaches:
- Play-based learning
- Positive peer interaction
- Problem-solving, empathy, and kindness
- How to manage feelings
- How to follow rules and expectations
- How a child can appropriately respond to and regulate their own needs
Who Can Enroll? What is the Enrollment Process?
If your child will be 4 years old by August 31, 2022, and would benefit from early learning before kindergarten, but cost has been a barrier, fill out an application below.
Paper enrollment forms are available at the District Office (2715 Lilac Street) or Broadway Learning Center (1410 8th Avenue) in Longview.
By mid-August 2022, families that have filled out an application will be invited to the Broadway Early Learning Center for a family conference and student screening. Screenings must occur before the first day of school, which is November 1, 2022 for this program. Families should expect to spend about one hour at this screening appointment.
