Secondary Transition

Transition activities and services should begin no later than the first IEP to be in effect when the student turns sixteen, or younger if determined appropriate by the IEP team, and updated annually, thereafter.

The student must be invited to the IEP team meeting when the purpose of the meeting will be the consideration of the postsecondary goals for the student and transition services need to assist the student in reading those goals; or
If the student does not attend the IEP team meeting, the school district must take other steps to ensure that the student’s preference and interests are considered.
