Student Enrollment

• Register early to ensure your child attends the neighborhood school. Kindergarten spots open on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Children must be five years old on or before Aug. 31 to be registered.
• Click on the "Find your students' bus stop here" link under the "School Buses" tab on this page to find your neighborhood home school.
• Fill the forms out and deliver them to your neighborhood school office, or complete the online registration process.

• Children must be at least four years old on or before August 31 to be enrolled in Kinder Bridge. 
• Children must be at least five years old on or before August 31 to be enrolled in kindergarten.
• Children must be at least six years old on or before August 31 to be enrolled in first grade.
• Children of age 8 and less than age 18 are required by law to attend a public school, an approved private school or educational center, unless they are receiving approved home-based instruction.
• Attendance options will be made available to homeless families on the same terms as families who are residing in the district. Enrollment may not be denied or delayed due to the lack of any document normally required for enrollment.

• Your child’s birth certificate or alternative documents, including but not limited to a religious, hospital, or physicians’ certificate showing date of birth; an entry in a family bible; an adoption record; an affidavit from a parent; previously verified school records; or any other document permitted by law.
• Child’s immunization records
• Child’s withdrawal grades from previous school (for grades 7-12 only)
• Child’s unofficial transcripts from all previous schools (for grades 9-12 only)
• 2 forms of proof of residency (utility bill, signed lease, or mortgage statement)

For children who turn 5 between September 1 and September 15, and miss the deadline for regular enrollment, the Longview School District provides a process where students who demonstrate readiness for Kindergarten can enroll.  The process takes about 1 to 2 hours and includes an evaluation of cognitive abilities, communication skills, gross and fine motor skills, academic skills, and social-emotional development.  Sessions include play breaks, motor activity, and snacks if needed. Students must meet the minimum criteria to be considered for early entrance to kindergarten. Learn more here!
